Anchor Rashmi Car Accident In Viskhapatnam

Popular TV anchor and actress Rashmi Gautam was involved in a road mishap late on Sunday, when the driver of the vehicle she was commuting in, hit a pedestrian in Visakhapatnam. The pedestrian was rushed to a hospital and is said to be severely injured. “The incident happened late on Sunday when I was returning home from my shoot. We were on the highway, where this man was crossing the road. There were no streetlights and it was dark, which led to the accident. I was in the passenger seat in a company car,” says Rashmi, who’s currently shooting in Vizag and Anakapalli for a web series. She adds, “The first thing that I did was to call up 108 (emergency ambulance services in AP). They took some time to respond, so we took him to a nearby government hospital. Later the emergency services arrived and they took him to a private hospital where he’s receiving the best care.”

The actress lamented about the lack of support she received during the incident. “As soon as the accident took place, a group of people had gathered around the area. However, not one person came to our help; people were instead taking pictures and videos on their phone. People must look beyond celebrities and realise that there’s a human life at stake. I pray that the person makes a recovery,” she says.

While speaking to us, MRK Raju, ACP Traffic, Vizag, said, A case has been registered against the driver. We have taken the driver in custody and booked an accident case against his name. The pedestrian is currently in serious condition.”
