Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi might unveil the successor to the Mi 5- the Mi 6 this month. CEO Lei Jun has confirmed that the Xiaomi Mi 6 is officially launching this April, during a live streaming session with Mi fans.
There is no exact date for the unveiling, however, a report by a Chinese media states that the device is expected to be unveiled on April 18.
According to numerous leaks and rumours, the device is expected to feature a 5.2-inch or a 5.5-inch LCD panel with a 2.5D curved glass on top for added protection and aesthetics and is expected to retain the glossy, curved back. At the front will be a fingerprint scanner which will be embedded in the display.
Under the hood, the device is expected to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Rumours also hint at multiple variants of the device to use the slightly dated Snapdragon 821 chipset, or the newly unveiled MediaTek Helio X30 chipset.
In the camera department, the device is expected to ship with a whopping 30-megapixel sensor at the back. There is no further information for the camera setup as of now. The device is also expected to sport an iris scanner at the front.
The device is expected to be running on Android 7.0 Nougat with Xiaomi’s custom MIUI skin on top. Moreover, the MIUI skin is also getting a major overhaul with MIUI 9.
While all this sounds quite wonderful we would warn you to take these leaks with a pinch of salt as these are mere leaks and rumours and the end result could be drastically different from what the leaks tell us.
